School Board

The School Board

The School Board formulates school policy within the framework established by the ACT Education Directorate.

The School Board consists of:

  • three elected parents, one of whom is appointed School Board Chairperson
  • two elected teachers from the school staff
  • the school principal and
  • a departmental nominee

The functions of the School Board are to:

  • monitor and review school performance and to report on it to the Chief Executive, parents of students at the school and staff
  • develop, maintain and review curriculum
  • develop and review eductaion policies
  • establish budgetary policies for the school and approve the school budget
  • establish policies for the efficient and effective use of school assests and management of financial risk
  • develop relationships between the school and the community and between the school and community organisations
  • make recommendations to the Chief Executive on issues affecting the school and to give effect to the Chief Executive's directions
  • encourage parent participation in their children's learning, and
  • exercise any other function given to the school board under the Act or any other Territory law.
